How often we celebrate a New Year, thinking, and yes, praying: Please let this year be better than the last one. No matter our beliefs, we all want to let go of the pressures, sorrows, disappointments and stress of the old…in hopes of revival, renewal, refreshment for the new.

How can we be thankful in all things? First Thessalonians 5:16 -18 tells us…“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks; for it is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
You might be thinking…Can that be true? Am I actually supposed to be joyful forever, pray continually, give thanks for everything, and trust that everything is all God’s will for me?

Waiting for just about anything, even answer to prayer, is often not an acceptable option in an instant gratification society filled with poor impulse control and lack of will power. I want what I want, and I want it now…in the name of Jesus!

I love America! It is my homeland. My ancestors, and probably yours, endured many hardships to come to the land of the free…and home of the brave. What’s wrong with me? I still get a lump in my throat and a thump in my heart when I pledge allegiance to our flag. Do you? Tears still dampen my eyes when I hear God Bless America, The Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, and Proud to be an American. What about you?

When life is challenging (that’s every day)…lean on Jesus
When sad songs are the melody of your life…lean on Jesus
When home is a place where there is no peace…lean on Jesus
When defeat is an option, and you want to give up…lean on Jesus
When joy is elusive…lean on Jesus
When suicide feels like the only way out…lean on Jesus
When pleasure is an empty and bottomless pit…lean on Jesus
When pain burns in every fiber of your being…lean on Jesus
When bitterness is turning your heart to stone…lean on Jesus
When God feels like a stranger who just doesn’t care…lean on Jesus
When you are shattered and broken, gather all the pieces at the foot of His cross…and lean on Jesus

My great little digital camera and I went for a 10 minute ride this morning…to take a picture at 8:00 A.M. P.S.T. to participate in the New Your Times’ A MOMENT in TIME world-wide photo submission.
The idea, as I understand it, was for people all over the globe to take a photograph at the same moment in time; then submit to the New York Times for publication…to create a mosaic capturing that moment in time.
While waiting for that eight o’clock hour, I watched crows playing in the breeze, listened to birds singing their morning melody, and watched in amazement as a coyote meandered by…appearing far too focused on his search for a morning meal to be concerned about me. My photo is of a local grove of uniquely beautiful Joshua trees….

How often do we say, I love this or I love that…when talking about some thing that has no known eternal value? How can I possibly continue to use the same word when saying I love (fill in the blank with your favorite stuff) …I love you…and I love Jesus?

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are grafted into the royal family of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Therefore, as is tradition in all royal families, with privilege…comes great responsibility.

As we in America approach Independence Day this 4th of July 2009, we face growing unprecedented national and international man made crisis and governmental decisions– coupled with ever-increasing satan inspired confusionDear ones…We in America are under attack in our land, in our government, and in our Constitution… Our Hope is in Jesus and His promises. Not in man and his promises. The New Testament reminds us to watch and pray. To be alert and to stay awake with watchfulness and caution. Today we claim victory over satan, and protection over our country and the world, by putting on the Whole Armor of God as we stand individually…and in intercession for America and all of Your creation. Declare Your Independence Day!
This year – yes – joyously celebrate the birth of our nation, Amercia. But also declare and celebrate your Independence Day. The day you became a blood bought child of the one and only true and living God, Jesus Christ. For, it is only in and through Him that you are truly free!
May God bless America…and all of His creation…and may He richly and abundantly bless you in all you think, speak, and do.

The need for intercessory prayer is so great. Do you ever drive or walk around your town praying for those you see along the way? I do…and have for years. As an intercessor, the process will soften your heart toward everyone you meet, while you gain in understanding God’s heart toward all of us.

A mother’s love is the closest thing to unconditional love we experience here on earth. The birth of a child is the beginning of a lifetime love affair for most mother’s hearts. That child may be her 1st or her 12th; no matter, a mother’s heart is big enough. There is no such thing as too many children for her to love.
To be a mother is a gift. To give a child the gift of a mother’s love is a reflection of our Abba Father’s love for us. However, that does not mean it is easy. To love, to truly love…is a daily choice…and can be a burden filled with sacrifice, carried in a mother’s tender heart. I pray for the mothers who have not heard from their child today. Father God, I pray Your perfect peace for mothers, who at this very moment, do not know if their child is dead or alive. I pray for the mothers who are on their knees in daily prayer for guidance, protection, and salvation for their child to make wise choices and to understand the consequences of their actions.

Throughout this time called life, we graduate from one motivating passage to another: womb to birth; crawling to standing; walking to running; babbling to talking; school to employment…moving out, military, marriage, career, baptism, parenthood, widowhood, and maybe eventual retirement. Every graduation is preparation for the next step; as we prepare to do the things, that will prepare us to do the things, that we are being prepared to do.
How many steps to your next graduation? I don’t know how many graduations you’ve experienced…or will experience. Some of us have many, others – very few. I don’t even pretend to understand why the difference. However, I do know, young or old, rich or poor, successful or not, there is an ultimate graduation all of us must experience: the final graduation from earthly existence into life eternal.

God gave us two ears and one mouth because He knew listening would be twice as difficult as talking.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are available to us 24/7. We can all on them to teach us divinely inspired listening skills. When we listen, truly listen, we give others a priceless gift that will cost us only our time and attention; while giving us the blessed opportunity to be God with skin on for His children.
